Becker TRANSFORMER

Flameproof Transformers are designed up
to 4000kVA and 11kV primary voltage and
secondary voltage up to 3.3kV at 50Hz. Medium
Voltage and Low Voltage Switchgear is supplied
to the customer’s requirements.
We are Certex and ISO9001:2008 Accredited
to manufacture flameproof equipment and
transformers. Transformers can be Skid or Trailer
Mounted.
For safety the units can be equipped with circuit
breakers on the Medium Voltage supply with
remote control. The circuit breaker interrupting
capacity is from 20kA to 31,5kA as specified.
Cables are connected by 12kV couplers or
flameproof glands.
The low voltage outgoing circuits can be provided
with Circuit Breakers, contactors with a high
interrupting capacity of an 20kA or other
arrangements to the customer’s requirements.
The Probeck relay complying with all mining
regulations may be used for protection on either
the primary or the secondary of the transformer.
Restrained sockets are provided for the low
voltage cable connections.
Transformer designs cater for the Direct-On- Line
starting of large motors as encountered in the
mining industry and have low losses to minimise
transformer operating cost.
Air insulated, externally operated off-load tap
changer are provided in place of tap links if
specified.

Power Centres can be provided with two,four or eight
outlets and combinations of them as separate Gate End
Boxes.

HIGH INTERRUPTING CAPACITY CONTACTOR

The high interrupting capacity vacuum contactor
unit is rated at 20kA at 1100Volt and 16kA at
3300Volt providing a long life alternative to a
conventional circuit breaker with all the advantages
of a contactor. The unit incorporates all the required
electronic protection.
The compact plug-in design simplifies maintenance
and enables easy replacement in the unlikely event
of a fault.
Each unit has an integral electrically operated
reversing switch enabling reversing of the
output supply without entering the enclosure.
This minimises downtime and more important
provides complete safety when an outgoing
circuit to a machine needs to be reversed.
Protection includes normal overload, short
circuit, unbalance, earth leakage, lockout, pilot
protection, contactor weld protection, vacuum
loss.

TRANSFORMER CORE AND WINDING

Transformers are air insulated providing
an environmentally friendly and fire
resistant design suitable for use
underground in any mine. Transformers
can be supplied in a nitrogen filled and
pressurized enclosure for flameproof
applications. Giving a safe inert cooling
medium for the transformer windings.
The Transformer is designed using high quality
core steel to minimise losses in the core
and ensure that core temperatures are
minimized under the specified operating
conditions. When the load comprises variable
speed drives that generate harmonics this
is taken into consideration.
The medium voltage and Low Voltage
windings are manufactured from copper
using high temperature insulation, which is
dried, then impregnated using a VPI
process to achieve an insulation system
with high electrical and mechanical strength.
